Junks of debris from a Russian rocket appears to have burned up just above Abu Dhabi, leaving confusion as some thought it was a meteor plummeting

That trail of light moved much too slowly to be a meteor, the debris is certainly part of a Russian rocket, the SL-4, that was launched last Saturday to the International Space Station (ISS), and it docked yesterday though it was supposed to burn in the upper atmosphere over an ocean however It’s unclear if any of the debris has made it to the ground.Yet the cause of debris is not disclosed
US Strategic Command revealed that the SL-4 had “re-entered the atmosphere Oct 16 2017 at 15:28 UTC.” That’s about the same local time in Abu Dhabi that streak of light was observed
“The trajectory of the debris was over Arabian Peninsula crossing UAE and Oman to finally over [the] Indian Ocean,” they added.
In a few months from now, we may get to see another trail of light as the China’s Tiangong-1 space station re-enters the atmosphere.
